WATER SPORTS

   SPORTS FISHING

It is carried out mainly aboard small boats called "pangas" (small fishing boats) that are used by magnificent fishermen in the small Island of Consag that is a rock formation 18 nautical miles from this Port, in the Artificial Reefs placed only 3 miles form the beach, or in the islands located south of San Felipe.

There are also private boats and shrimp boats used that are equipped for sports fishing.

   SWIMMING

Swimming in deep sea is regularly practiced, but the extreme tide variation makes it sometimes very tiresome. This is why it is more recommended to use the fine pool facilities that the majority of the developments and public pools have.

   DIVING

Self diving can be practiced in the archipelagos of the small islands located south of San Felipe in the area of Puertecitos. This place has a big variety of marine species.

   WATER-SKIING

This sport is still not very popular, but there are magnificent conditions to practice it because our bay has an approximate extension of 12 miles, and during many seasons its swell is at a minimum.

   KITE FLIGHT

It is practiced in the summer time. There is a tourist service official agent that provides these services, using preferably the kite flight.

    BOAT RIDE AND JET SKI

They are offered in the picturesque "pangas" at affordable prices as well as the "banana" rides. There are as well different places that rent motorcycles and jet skis.

   ROWING AND CANOEING

San Felipe has a magnificent Rowing School that is now-a-days the base for the National Rowing team that is the National Olympics Runner-up. You can get specialized classes and carry out tournaments throughout the whole year..

FISHING

Fishing is a highly appreciated activity in the area. We can say that the San Felipe as a tourist destination was founded by sports fishermen that discovered the existence of a unique specimen in the world such as the Totoaba that is endemic specie for the region. Due to its commercial exploitation it is currently being protected as specie in danger of extinction.

Still, fishing has been getting more popular with species such as Corbina, Cow Fish, Cabrilla, Trigger Fish, Hake, Sierra Mackerel, Dogfish, and others that by their weight and size are priceless trophies for the sports fisherman.
